Men’s Tennis Falls to Wabash

Box Score

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's tennis team dropped its consolation match in the NCAC Tournament to Wabash College, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon.

The Yeomen's lone point of the match came courtesy of freshman Brandon McKenna as he was a 6-1, 6-4 winner over Michael Demeter in the No. 6 singles flight.

The Little Giants grabbed a stranglehold on the match by taking all three doubles matches. Oberlin fell 8-3 and 8-4 at No. 1 and 2, but did challenge in the third position where McKenna and sophomore Soren Zeliger were eventually outlasted by a 9-7 count.

In the top singles spot, rookie Callan Louis put forth a great battle against Wade Miller. The Yeomen newcomer dropped the first 6-1, but rebounded to win the second 6-2. Unfortunately, he was bested 6-3 in the third set.

Wabash also secured a point at No. 3 where Mark Troiano topped Ben Turchin 6-1, 6-2.

The win for Wabash avenges an earlier loss from the Yeomen as Oberlin came out on top of a 5-4 decision back on February 16.

The Yeomen will conclude their season tomorrow afternoon when they take on Ohio Wesleyan University to determine seventh place.
