Oberlin, Ohio – The upstart Oberlin College men's tennis team was unable to keep pace with the third-seeded Big Red of Denison as they topped the Yeomen 5-0 in the opening round of the NCAC Tournament on Friday afternoon.

Denison entered the match ranked 11th in the ITA Central region and the team lived up to its billing, establishing early control by winning all three doubles flights in convincing fashion by the scores of 8-1, 8-3 and 8-1.

With the match being played to decision, the Big Red needed to secure just two singles victories to advance to the semifinals. Those wins came from the fifth and sixth positions.

At No. 5, Yeomen senior Eliot Heaton was bested by Jeffrey LoDuca 6-0, 6-0 in what proved to be the match-clinching point.

Just moments early, Jack O'GormanBean secured a 6-0, 6-1 win over Brandon McKenna at No. 6.

Oberlin now drops into the consolation portion of the bracket, as it will take on Wabash College tomorrow afternoon with an approximate start time of 1 p.m. The Little Giants fell to DePauw earlier in the day 5-1. Oberlin topped Wabash 5-4 back on February 16.
