Hanover, IN - In what was its fifth straight NCAA Championship meet, the Oberlin College women's cross country team placed eighth in the nation with 331 points.

A year removed from a ninth-place finish, the Yeowomen moved up a spot this season to establish a new benchmark of excellence.

"It certainly was another great day for these young women and our program," Head Coach Ray Appenheimer said. "We came in ranked 15th in the country, but once again this team showed their resiliency by running a great race to do even better than that."

The junior tandem of Emma Lehmann and Lindsay Neal, who each earned All-America honors for their respective performances, headlined the Yeowomen effort. Lehmann completed the 6K trek in 21:35.3 to place 11th overall. Neal stopped the clock at 21:55.8, using a mile pace of 5:53 to finish in 28th place.

Lehmann moved up 31 places from her 42nd-place finish in 2012, while Neal improved her final standing 35 spots after placing 63rd last year. It was also the first time in school history that Oberlin had two All-Americans from the same race.

Junior Sarah Jane Kerwin was Oberlin's third finisher, checking in at 22:31.8 to place 85th in the 280-runner field.

A 2012 All-American, junior Carey Lyons fought through injury throughout the year but continued to show her toughness and today was no different as she turned in a solid run of 22:58.7 to place 157th.

Running in the final cross country race of her career, senior Lauren Taylor completed the list of Oberlin point producers in 167th place with a timestamp of 23:04.9.

First-year Emily Curley also got her first experience in a national meet as she finished 263rd with a time of 24:18.3. Junior Erica Morelli was the team's seventh finisher at 24:49.5.

Making their first nationals appearance in the men's 8K championship, sophomores Geno Arthur and Joshua Urso also ran strong races.

Arthur finished in 111th place with a time of 25:58.9, using a mile pace of 5:14 to get through the course.

Urso wasn't far behind as he stopped the clock at 26:11.6 to place 139th in the 275-man field.

Each of these runners will now turn their focus to the upcoming indoor track and field season.
