Meadville, PA – The Oberlin College men's cross country team, led by sophomore
Geno Arthur, finished fourth at this year's NCAC Championships with 122 points.
Wabash won the team title as their five scoring runners all placed in the top 10 to total 30 points. Host Allegheny finished second with 46 points and Wooster was third with 95.
Arthur placed sixth overall, covering the 8k course in 27:15 and was followed by classmate
Joshua Urso, who placed 17
th in a time of 27:58.
Samuel Coates-Finke (28:41.3), Jimmy Taylo (28.41.7), and
E.J. Douglas (28.45.4) finished 34th,35th, and 36th, respectively, to wrap up the scoring five for the Yeomen. Coates-Finke edged out Taylor by under a second at the line and Douglas came in four seconds behind.
"With four of our five scorers being freshman or sophomores, in years to come theses guys are only going to get better and better and I am just so proud of how they ran on such a tough, tough day," said Head Coach
Ray Appenheimer.
Arthur's finish earned him First-Team All-NCAC honors after earning second-team honors last year as a freshman. Urso secured a spot on the All-NCAC Honorable-Mention team with his performance.
The Yeomen will take the next two weeks to ready for the Great Lakes Regionals in Grand Rapids, Michigan on the campus of Calvin College.
