Oberlin Athletics to Unveil High Definition Web Streaming

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College athletics department will be one of the only schools in NCAA Division III to offer live HD web streaming of its athletics contests, starting with its men's basketball game on Friday night against Anderson University at 7 p.m.

The remainder of the men's and women's basketball home games will be streamed live in full 720p as well as the remaining home swim meet on January 13.

As we move into the spring seasons, select events will also be streamed live online in HD and free off charge to our faithful followers across the globe.

Oberlin athletics is already one of the leaders nationwide in live streaming at the Division III level, providing coverage for approximately 80 events per year on goyeo.com.

“I would like to thank our generous alumni and fan base that made this possible through their generous donations,” Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications Mike Mancini said. “This is a very exciting time for our department as this new technology will allow our fans to get enhanced views of our athletes in action.”

It is important that fans check their internet connections in order to see if they have enough bandwidth to view an HD stream online. It is recommended that the end-user have a connection of at least 5-6 Mbps to view an HD stream. You can test your internet speed by clicking here. For fans that do not meet the minimum download speed, we are working on adding a second stream in standard definition, but that will not be immediately available.
