New Orleans – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recently honored both the Oberlin College men's and women's cross country teams, as well three individual athletes for academic excellence.
The Yeomen and Yeowomen were both named as USTFCCCA All-Academic teams. To be eligible for the award, a team must have minimum grade point average of 3.10 and compile a team score at their respective NCAA regional meet.
The Yeowomen posted a 3.42 GPA, while the Yeomen recorded a 3.20 team GPA.
In addition to the team awards, seniors
Clara Shaw and
Cordelia Revells, and junior
Joanna Johnson earned All-Academic honors as individuals. To earn the prestigious distinction, one must have a minimum GPA of 3.30 and place in the top 35 at their respective regional meet.
Johnson, Shaw and Revells each played key roles in helping Oberlin win the 2009 NCAC Cross Country Championship and earn a second-place finish at last weekend's NCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
