Box Score

Wooster, Ohio –
Trying to avenge an overtime loss to the College of Wooster earlier this season, the Oberlin College women's basketball team came up a little short as the Scots bested the Yeowomen 71-58 on Saturday night.

NCAC Freshman of the Year candidate Allison Anderson guided the Oberlin attack with 23 points – marking the fourth time in the last seven games and seventh time this season she has reached the 20-point plateau. The Springfield, Illinois, native also dished out nine assists in the game. Senior Kayla Brandt and junior Syrea Thomas added 10 points each in the setback.

A Thomas 3-ball would get Oberlin within in one, 20-19, with 8:39 left in the first half, but unfortunately the Scots would score 12 of the half's final 17 points to lead 32-24 at the break.

In the second half, Wooster (8-13, 5-7 NCAC) would build its advantage up to 10, 40-30, with 15:23 left to play, but Oberlin fought back to get within four, 40-36, at the 13:13 mark. Unfortunately, the Scots would answer right back to go up by 13, 49-36, with 9:06 remaining.

Oberlin (4-18, 3-10 NCAC) used one last push - cutting the lead to eight, 53-45, with just under four minutes to play, but couldn't quite get over the hump to complete the comeback.

The Yeowomen shot 32.8-percent (20-of-61) from the floor, while Wooster checked in at 39.3-percent (22-of-56). The Scots also benefited from a 24-10 advantage in points in the paint.

Oberlin will honor its senior class of Kayla Brandt and Emily Chu Finkel when it returns to action next Saturday at home against Hiram. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
