Women’s Basketball Falls at Ohio Wesleyan

Delaware, Ohio – In its first of a stretch with three games in five nights, the Oberlin College women's basketball team fell to Ohio Wesleyan University 78-65 on Tuesday night in Delaware, Ohio.

First-year Allison Anderson keynoted the Oberlin offense with 18 points to go along with eight assists. Junior Syrea Thomas contributed 14 points as she was 4-of-6 from long range, while rookie Kelly Warlich chipped in with 11 points in the loss. Senior Emily Chu Finkel had a career night cleaning up the glass as she ripped down 16 rebounds in the contest.

Oberlin (4-16, 3-8 NCAC) was able to hang tight for a large part of the first half as it trailed by just four, 24-20, with 8:42 remaining in the frame, but the Bishops would extend their cushion to 40-28 at the break.

Ohio Wesleyan (14-6, 9-2 NCAC) used an 8-0 spurt to start the second session - grabbing a 20-point lead and never looking back.

The Yeowomen shot 41.8-percent (23-of-55) from the floor, while the Bishops checked in at 44.3-percent (31-of-70).

Oberlin will try to bounce back when it plays host to Kenyon College on Friday night. Tip-time is set for 7:30 p.m.
