Westlake, Ohio – Oberlin College juniors
Chris Pottmeyer,
Cody Wiewandt and
Solomon Turner were named as All-NCAC Honorable-Mention selections, the league office announced on Monday.
“These three guys had tremendous seasons for us,” Head Coach
Jeff Ramsey said. “They fought their tails off all year long and I was happy to see that they were rewarded for their efforts.”
Pottmeyer, who started all nine games he played in this season, anchored the offensive line from his center spot, helping quarterback
David Kalgren become the leagues second-best running QB with 504 total yards.
Wiewandt was a force on the defensive front for the Yeomen, clogging up the middle while also creating havoc in the backfield. The Berlin Heights, Ohio, native finished the season with 54 tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss and one sack. He also had two pass break-ups and one forced fumble.
Turner, a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, led the Yeomen with 78 tackles from his defensive back position. The speedster also had one interception, one forced fumble and four pass break-ups.
Oberlin, which finished 2-8 overall and 2-5 in the NCAC, will take part in its non-traditional spring season before embarking on the 2010 season next fall.
