Wabash Sews Up NCAC Title Against Oberlin
Box Score

November 1 –
Wabash College remained perfect on the season with a 60-7 win over Oberlin College Saturday afternoon in Crawfordsville.

The Little Giants (8-0 overall, 6-0 NCAC) also clinched the North Coast Athletic Conference title. Wabash has captured part or all of the last four conference championships.

Oberlin started well after winning the opening toss. The Yeomen drove 36 yards on nine plays, including an 11-yard strike from Greg Mangan to Ryan Harvey on third and eight from the Oberlin 31. The drive stalled several plays later in Wabash territory after the Yeomen failed to convert a fourth down.

The Little Giants wasted no time in taking over the game from there. Quarterback Matt Hudson connected with Kody LeMond on a 48-yard strike on the team’s first play from scrimmage, and Hudson took it in from 15-yards out on the next play to give Wabash a 7-0 advantage.

The Little Giants built a 27-0 bulge through the first quarter on two Bobby Kimp touchdowns and a 47-0 halftime lead thanks to two more scoring passes from Hudson.

Oberlin finally made its way into the end zone in the fourth quarter. Junior Wayne Mundekis capped a nine play, 68-yard drive with a 1-yard scoring plunge. Mundekis led the Yeomen with 73 yards rushing on 11 carries.

Wabash was paced by a stellar performance from Hudson, who completed 15 of 16 passes for 277 yards and two scores while running for another. Eight different Little Giants scored touchdowns on the afternoon, and eight different receivers caught passes from Hudson.

Oberlin (2-6 overall, 2-3 NCAC) returns home next weekend to take on The College of Wooster at 1:00 p.m. The game will be televised on a tape-delay basis by Sports Time Ohio. Wabash travels to Hiram College.
